How does this differ from the portals and platforms page?

This page is specifically about Laravel: a Filament admin panel, an Inertia and Vue frontend, realtime updates. The general portals page covers a wider picture, including projects where Laravel is not the right choice.

Can data from an existing system be brought across?

Usually yes. We look at what shape the data is in today and make the import part of the migration.

Who runs the portal once it is finished?

You do. The admin panel exists so that everyday work happens without a developer. Larger changes are quoted separately, so you always know the cost up front.

Is there an example?
